Perhaps it's time to both resuscitate this blog and my social life. A little over 5 years since the divorce and 5 months since recreating myself once again. A revamped healthier, lighter, vegetarian me. None of which was planned as life has a tendency to do. I seem to be addicted to Almond Roca (Douglas, the secret's out) and enjoying cooking at home. I have no idea what the hell has gotten into me. Blame it on mid-life (how trite) or perhaps getting tired of non-stop denial. Either way, here we go.

Vacationland
So, I've decided to have a travel bent on this blog, every pun intended.
We are currently stuck in Maine, Portland as our flight itinerary had a few kinks in it. I'm not very happy with Expedia right now, but Delta Airlines was quite professional and accommodating in the end. We are staying in the Inn at St. John. Lovely European style hotel built in 1897 as a place for train passengers to stay the night. If you have ever stayed at a McMenamin's or the San Remo Hotel in San Fransisco and loved it, this is the place for you! Our first night last week was upgraded randomly to a queen bed, private bath on the first floor. A very spacious room with a small but adequate bathroom. Overall really clean and esthetically pleasing (not too much chintz!) right down to the charming bay window. This evening's last minute booking landed us a queen bed, private bath down the hall (a mere eight steps and they give you robes), even more spacious than the last room with another charming bay window for only $96 including tax and wifi. The breakfast bar is nothing to write home about, but it gets you by. The staff has been very pleasant, courteous and approachable.
More from the east coast adventures soon!
